Who we are

MediLane Pharmacy is a licensed community pharmacy in Karachi, Pakistan, with branches in Clifton (Shop 3, Plot 12-C, Khayaban-e-Roomi, Block 5, Clifton, Karachi 75600, +92 21 3587 4410) and Gulshan-e-Iqbal (Shop 7-8, Plot SB-14, Block 13-D, Gulshan-e-Iqbal near Nipa Chowrangi, Karachi 75300, +92 21 3498 2271).

We are responsible for the personal information you give us through this website and in our branches.

Our approach to privacy

Pakistan does not yet have a comprehensive data protection law in force; a Personal Data Protection Bill is still pending. We do not wait for one. We follow widely recognised good practice, similar to international standards such as the EU GDPR:

  • collect only what we need
  • explain clearly why we use it
  • keep it secure and confidential
  • keep it no longer than necessary
  • let you see, correct and delete it where we can

We do not claim formal certification or compliance with any specific foreign law.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact details - name, phone number, email address and delivery address.
  • Account details - your sign-in details and saved preferences.
  • Order details - items ordered, delivery or pickup choice, payment method and order history.
  • Bank transfer receipts - images you upload to confirm a payment.
  • Prescriptions - images or files of prescriptions you upload, and the prescriber’s details on them.
  • Health-related messages - questions you send to our pharmacists, for example through Ask a pharmacist.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data - device type, browser, approximate location from your IP address, and pages visited, used to keep the site secure and working.
  • Cookies and similar storage - see our cookie policy for the full list.
  • Campaign source - if you arrive from an advert or link with a campaign tag, we record that source so we know which campaigns lead to orders and enquiries.

Prescription and health information

Prescriptions and health questions are sensitive. We treat them with extra care:

  • Uploaded prescriptions are stored privately and are seen only by our pharmacists.
  • They are not visible to riders, marketing staff or other customers.
  • We use them only to check and dispense your medicine safely, as required under DRAP and Sindh drug rules.
  • We never use prescription or health information for advertising.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only where needed:

  • Our pharmacists and branch staff - on a need-to-know basis.
  • Riders - your name, phone number, address and order total, so they can deliver. Not your prescription.
  • Service providers - companies that host the website and run our ordering system, under agreements to keep data confidential and use it only for our purposes.
  • Prescribers - if a pharmacist needs to check a prescription with the doctor who wrote it.
  • Authorities - where the law requires it, for example drug regulators or law enforcement with valid legal authority.

If you consent to optional analytics or advertising tools, such as Google Analytics 4 or the Meta pixel, those providers receive limited usage data. These tools are only active if we have switched them on and you have accepted them.

How long we keep it

  • Order and prescription records - for as long as pharmacy and tax rules require us to keep dispensing and sales records.
  • Account details - while your account is open. If you close it, we delete or anonymise what we no longer need to keep.
  • Questions and messages - as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of advice given.
  • Analytics data - in aggregated or anonymised form, or for the period shown in our cookie policy.

How we protect it

We use secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted staff access, private storage for uploaded files and sign-in sessions protected by secure cookies. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and review them regularly.

If we become aware of a breach that is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and explain what we are doing about it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  1. tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy
  2. correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  3. delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
  4. stop using your information for marketing
  5. withdraw consent for analytics or advertising cookies at any time

You can change cookie choices using the cookie settings link in the website footer. To make any other request, use the contact form or the Show email button on the Contact page, or call either branch. We may need to confirm your identity first.

Children

Our website is not intended for children to use on their own. Parents and carers can order baby and child products and upload a child’s prescription. We use children’s information only for that order.

Laws that apply

We handle information in line with Pakistani law that applies to us, including medical confidentiality duties, DRAP and Sindh drug rules, and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 where relevant. If a national data protection law comes into force, we will update this policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will show a notice on the website.
