Accessibility statement

In short: We want everyone to be able to find and order the medicines and health products they need. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA and offer built-in tools for text size, contrast, motion and link styles.

Our commitment

MediLane Pharmacy serves people of every age and ability across Karachi. Many of our customers are older, unwell, caring for someone else or using a phone on a slow connection. A website that is hard to use can stop someone getting the medicine they need, so we take accessibility seriously.

This statement covers the MediLane Pharmacy website.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. These are international guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). They cover how to make websites easier to use for people with visual, hearing, motor and cognitive disabilities.

We test pages as we build them, and we review the site when we add new features.

Accessibility tools on this website

You can change how the website looks and behaves using the accessibility controls. Your choices are saved on your device, so they stay in place when you come back.

Text size

Make text larger across the whole site without breaking the layout. You can also use your browser’s zoom; pages are designed to work at up to 200% zoom and on narrow screens.

High-contrast mode

Switch to stronger colour contrast for text, buttons and borders. This helps if you have low vision or are using your phone in bright sunlight.

Reduce motion

Turn off animations, sliding effects and moving elements. If your device is already set to reduce motion, the website follows that setting automatically.

Show an underline on every link, so links do not rely on colour alone.

Built-in features

As well as the tools above, the website is built to support:

  • Keyboard navigation - you can reach menus, search, product pages, the basket and checkout using the keyboard alone. A clear focus outline shows where you are.
  • Skip link - a “Skip to main content” link appears as the first item when you press Tab, so you can jump past the menu.
  • Screen-reader labels - buttons, icons, form fields and controls have text labels that screen readers can announce.
  • Clear headings - pages use a logical heading structure, so you can move through them by heading.
  • Form help - form fields have visible labels, and errors are explained in text, not only by colour.
  • Readable language - we try to write in plain English and explain medical terms where we use them.
  • Light and dark themes - choose the colour theme that is most comfortable for you.

Known limitations

We know some parts of the website are not yet fully accessible:

  • Product images from suppliers - many product photos come from manufacturers and suppliers. Some may not have detailed text descriptions. Key details such as the product name, strength and pack size are always given in text on the product page.
  • Packaging text in images - information printed on packs, shown in photos, may not be readable by screen readers. Always read the label and leaflet with your medicine, or ask a pharmacist to explain it.
  • Uploading files - uploading a prescription or bank receipt means taking a photo or choosing a file, which some people find hard. If you cannot upload, call a branch and we will help you another way.
  • Third-party content - maps and other embedded content provided by other companies may not fully meet our standard.

We are working to reduce these limitations.

Other ways to order and get help

If you find the website hard to use, you do not have to use it. You can:

  • phone either branch and our team can help you place an order or answer questions
    • Clifton Branch: +92 21 3587 4410
    • Gulshan-e-Iqbal Branch: +92 21 3498 2271
  • visit a branch in person, every day from 9:00 to 23:00 PKT - see our stores page for addresses and directions
  • ask a pharmacist a question through the Ask a pharmacist page

Our staff are happy to read out label information, explain instructions and help with prescription uploads.

How to report a problem

If you find something on the website that is hard to use, please tell us. We read every report.

  1. Use the contact form or the Show email button on the Contact page, or call either branch.
  2. Tell us which page you were on (the web address if you can).
  3. Describe what you were trying to do and what went wrong.
  4. Tell us what device, browser and any assistive technology you were using, such as a screen reader or magnifier.

We will reply as soon as we can, and if we cannot fix the problem quickly, we will help you get what you need another way, for example by taking your order over the phone.

Ongoing improvements

Accessibility is ongoing work, not a one-off task. We will keep testing the site, fixing problems that are reported and updating this statement when things change.
