Ask a pharmacist before you buy
Questions about a medicine, a generic alternative, how to store it or whether two products are usually taken together — a MediLane pharmacist answers during opening hours. Asking is free and you don't have to buy anything.
Is the generic omeprazole the same as Gastrocid 20 mg?
Both contain omeprazole 20 mg capsules, so the active ingredient and strength match. If a doctor prescribed a specific brand, check with them before switching. We stock both.

About asking a pharmacist
What can I ask a MediLane pharmacist?
You can ask how a medicine is usually taken, what it contains, whether two medicines are commonly used together, how to store it, and whether a generic with the same salt exists. We will tell you when you should see a doctor instead.
Is the advice free?
Yes. Asking a question costs nothing and you do not have to buy anything.
How quickly will I get an answer?
During opening hours, usually the same day. Questions sent late at night are answered the next morning. For anything urgent, call the branch directly.
Can a pharmacist tell me what dose to give my child?
We can explain what the product leaflet says for each age and weight band and help you read it. Dosing decisions for children, pregnancy and long-term conditions should be confirmed with your doctor.
Can you diagnose my symptoms?
No. A pharmacist can't diagnose. We can suggest over-the-counter options for minor symptoms and tell you which warning signs mean you should see a doctor.
What should I do in an emergency?
Do not wait for an online answer. Call Rescue 1122 or Edhi 115, or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.
Will my question be published?
Questions sent through this page are private. Questions you post on a product page may be published without your contact details so other customers can benefit.
Can I send a photo of a medicine box?
Yes — message the branch on WhatsApp or attach it to the prescription upload. A photo of the box and leaflet helps us answer accurately.
No question matches — try another word, or ask a pharmacist.
